About the role:

As the largest Museum in the UK, the British Museum offers unparalleled opportunities to work with a priceless collection of more than 8 million objects from around the world. The Museum’s aim is to be a ‘museum of the world for the world’ which is made possible by the dedicated work by those caring for the collection and international visitors totaling almost 7 million every year.

This is an exciting opportunity to curate international touring exhibitions as agreed with the Content Developer: International Touring Exhibitions and to support the International Engagement team in the marketing and delivery of those exhibitions to venues.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To develop and curate touring exhibitions for international partner venues
  • To suggest new exhibition ideas (concepts for projects with, and without, objects) for consideration as potential touring exhibitions.
  • To co-curate other British Museum exhibitions with other curators/colleagues, as required.

About you:

  • Work effectively and tactfully with and influence internal stakeholders to ensure commitment to the project and that timescales are met.
  • Work effectively and diplomatically with external stakeholders from a range of countries and cultures.
  • Represent and be an advocate for the International Engagement team in dealings with other colleagues in the Museum.
